(TWSE: 2353) has released its 2023 Sustainability Report, highlighting advances in environmental, social and governance (ESG) and “Conscious Technology” that helps address climate change. Additionally, Acer was recognized by TIME as one of the World’s Most Sustainable Companies 2024 and awarded a platinum medal, the highest recognition in EcoVadis’s sustainability ranking, representing the top 1% of rated companies [1].
Accelerating progress on ESG through partnerships
Working with its partners and subsidiaries to develop intelligent solutions for a better future, Acer has invested in initiatives that help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, save energy and increase productivity. To reduce carbon emissions, the company has joined forces with its logistics partners to support biofuels, including sustainable marine and aviation fuels, demonstrating its commitment to UN Sustainable Development Goals 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) and SDG 13 (Climate Action) .
Acer’s subsidiaries are also involved in various areas of sustainable solutions in everyday life. Among new business initiatives, Acer continued cross-domain collaboration in technology and healthcare, responding to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being). Working towards net zero
Acer is committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2050 through a low-carbon transition and climate strategy that sets out nine directions across three main pillars: business operations, products and services, and the value chain. In 2023, Acer expanded its Vero portfolio of eco-friendly products with its first carbon-neutral laptop, the Aspire Vero 16 (AV15-53P). Acer requires suppliers to increase the share of renewable energy used in the production of its products, so the final assembly of the Aspire Vero 16 used 100% renewable energy. Moreover, Acer is actively communicating with key component suppliers, especially those with higher carbon footprints in their products, such as LCD panel manufacturers, to use renewable energy in their processes to reduce carbon emissions and overall carbon footprint product in Aspire Vero 16.
Continuation of March Ahead in ESG initiatives
Acer’s efforts to make ESG a sustainable part of its business continue to be recognized around the world. It was named to TIME’s 2024 World’s Most Sustainable Companies list, according to a methodology that took into account companies’ participation in respected climate programs such as the Science Targets Initiative (SBTi), CDP scores, as well as whether they have incorporated sustainability into their models business. In addition, Acer has received a platinum medal in the EcoVadis sustainability ranking for the third year, representing the top 1% of rated companies.
